We are going to present the 5 Best cards in the Lair of Darkness Structure deck. This new deck releases Thursday, April 19, 2018 for OTS stores like us which is when you can buy it from us, while the rest of the stores will receive it Friday, April 20, 2018 or later. Below the commentary is the Spoiler List for the deck.
The Lair of Darkness Structure Deck is one of the better decks to release in recent history. Some of the new cards are the best cards in the deck, while having great staples like Mind Crush, Tour Guide, Vanity’s Fiend, and Allure of Darkness. Most cards are one copy per deck, so it is recommended to get 3 decks to get a play set of each card, which you will want to do when you read the comments below.
Lilith, Lady of Lament
SR06-EN000 Lilith, Lady of Lament, is our favorite, and possible the best monster card in the deck, if you combo it. It is a dark level 3, fiend effect monster, with 2000 attack (or 1000 if you normal summon it), and 0 defense. You can easily bring it out with cards such as Tour Guide. As a quick effect, you can tribute one dark monster and reveal 3 normal traps from your deck. Your opponent then picks one of the 3 cards, and you set it to the field, and shuffle the other 2 back into your deck. What makes this card amazing is if you pick the same card for all three for your opponent to select, such as 3 Evenly Matched, or 3 Mirror Force, etc. You can use the effect once per turn, too, so you can literally tear down your opponent every turn with this effect, as long as you keep tributing dark monsters. This could be useful in many different decks. Remember, also, that cards Bottomless Trap hole and Torrential Tribute are no longer limited, so you can use 3 copies of them as well. You can also combo this with Lair of Darkness to do major damage to your opponent (see below).
Lair of Darkness
SR06-EN022 Lair of Darkness is a field spell card, where ALL face-up monsters on the field become dark-attributes. Another effect is that once per turn, if you would tribute a monster(s) to activate a card or effect, you can tribute 1 dark monster your opponent controls as if you controlled it. So, you can use this effect to keep destroying your opponents monsters by tributing them. You can also combo it to summon Lilith, tribute you opponent’s monster, and search 3 normal traps and have your opponent set 1 trap to your field. You can also combo this card with Ahrima, as well (see below). Another effect is at your end phase, once per turn, special summon to the turn player’s field, in Defense Position, as many “Shadow Tokens” (Fiend/DARK/Level 3/ATK 1000/DEF 1000) as possible, up to the number of monsters that were Tributed while this card was face-up on the field this turn. So, once again you can combo this with Lilith at the end phase described above, get 1 token, then use Lilith’s effect on your opponent’s turn (if they don’t summon a monster), tribute the darkness token, and bring another trap to your field during your opponent’s turn!
Ahrima, the Wicked Warden
SR06-EN002 Ahrima, the Wicked Warden, is a level 4, dark fiend effect monster with an attack of 1700 and defense of 0. You can discard this card and add 1 Lair of Darkness from your deck to your hand, which can quickly start your combos with Lair of darkness described above. The second effect is You can tribute 1 dark monster; draw 1 card, or, if a dark monster other than this card was tributed to activate this effect, you can add 1 dark monster with 2000 or more defense from your Deck to your hand instead of drawing. This allows you to cycle through some of your cards and trigger cards like Diabolos (see below) where you can search them out in your deck, or other cards like Darklord Zerato, The Dark Creator, or other cards with over 2000 defense.
Darkest Diabolos, Lord of the Lair
SR06-EN001 Darkest Diabolos, Lord of the Lair is a level 8 dark dragon effect monster with 3000 attack and 2000 defense. This is the big boss monster in the deck and it’s a dragon you can’t tribute it or target it, and effectively, it is immune to Kaijus. So, you have to use non-targeting removal or kill it in battle, which could prove to be difficult. You could board wipe it with cards like Raigeki. This card effectively special summons itself from the graveyard to the field if your dark monsters are tribute summoned. Its other effect is that you can tribute one dark monster and your opponent places one card from their hand to the top or bottom of their deck. This may not be as good as it seems, since your opponent could place spells or traps to their deck and keep their monsters. You can use the (1)st and (3)rd effects with this card’s name only once per turn, each. See below.
(1) If a DARK monster(s) you control is Tributed, and this card is in your hand or GY: You can Special Summon this card.
(2) Your opponent cannot Tribute this card, also this card cannot be targeted by your opponent’s card effects.
(3) You can Tribute 1 DARK monster; your opponent chooses 1 card from their hand for you to return to either the top or bottom of the Deck.
Grinning Grave Virus
SR06-EN030 Grinning Grave Virus is a Normal Trap Card which is great for shutting down card effect activations once they hit the graveyard. So, monsters like BA will lose their activation. Another effect is your opponent can destroy any card from their hand or deck, so you get to see what cards they have, too. The actual card effects are spelled out below:
(1) Tribute 1 DARK monster with 3000 or less ATK; your opponent destroys 1 card from their hand and/or Deck for every 500 ATK the Tributed monster had, also, if a DARK monster with 2000 or more ATK was Tributed to activate this card, check all cards your opponent draws until the end of their 3rd turn after this card’s activation, and destroy all monsters among them, also cards sent to the Graveyard because they were destroyed by this card’s effect cannot activate their effects during the turn they were destroyed.
Some extra cards to think about to make this deck more powerful are: Evenly Matched, Enemy Controller, Metaverse, Akashic Magician, Hey, Trunade!, Downbeat, Call of the Archfiend, or any Monarch cards to make a hybrid Monarch Deck, or any other cards to make hybrids of Infernoid, Virus, etc. You definitely want 3 Lair of Darkness decks to get 3 copies of each card!
